Bettys Bay Cape Town
Cycling in Bettys Bay
An hour out of the Cape Town city, Bettys Bay is a delightful little town to ride through. The town is bordered by a magnificent 4 km long stretch of white sandy beach, on the east of the Stony Point Penguin Colony. The beach is perfect for swimming and surfing, and dogs with leashes are allowed on the beach. While you’re here, you can enjoy the beautiful mountain backdrop with the crashing waves of the Indian Ocean before you. At David Kraal’s picnic area, lunch can be enjoyed at the end of the beach.
Betty’s is an outdoor destination, so summer is ideal. You can expect the early-morning wind, but don’t let it deter you; it normally dies down before lunch. It’s usually a good idea to keep a light jacket with you wherever you go. However, the winter views stormy seas and chilly rainy days, which are great for sitting alongside a fireplace. If you want to spot southern right whales from the beachfront, plan a visit between June and December.
Take a ride and explore the beautiful town on an e-bike. It’s a cool little place to take the kids and furry family members with for a stunning time at the beach and local shops and services to keep you busy.
From activities like pottery and handmade belgium chocolates to hiking trails and silver sands beach. With that being said, the locals and seaside views alongside the landscapes encourage a weekend visit.
